This Privacy Policy explains how Ryosuke Yokota (the "Developer," "we," or "us") handles information in connection with the Learn French: 5000 Words mobile application (the "App").

1. Information processed by the App

The App processes the following categories of information:

  • Learning data stored on your device: vocabulary progress, answers, bookmarks, study history, learning statistics, goals, reminder settings, theme, language, and other App preferences. This information is stored locally and is not uploaded as your personal learning record.
  • Analytics and technical data: App interactions such as screens viewed, study sessions, feature use, purchase-flow events, search text entered in the vocabulary search (limited to 100 characters), App and device information, installation identifiers, and technical events. Firebase Analytics processes this information to help us understand and improve the App. The App does not require a name or contact details for analytics.
  • Purchase data: product identifiers, transaction status, entitlement status, an anonymous App user identifier, and related purchase information are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and RevenueCat to complete, validate, restore, and manage in-app purchases. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
  • Support communications: if you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include in your message so that we can respond and provide support.

Advertising and consent data: the free version uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform ("UMP"). Google may process IP address and approximate location derived from it, App and device information, SDK or installation identifiers, an advertising identifier when permitted, consent signals, and advertisement requests, impressions, clicks, reward completion, and other interactions. This data is used to deliver and measure ads, limit repetition, prevent fraud and abuse, and, only for general-audience Apps where permitted by consent and device settings, personalize advertising.

Ads are requested and displayed only for users whose Premium entitlement has not been recognized. The App may show banner, interstitial, and user-initiated rewarded advertisements.

The App does not require you to create an account and does not intentionally collect your name, postal address, phone number, or precise location.

2. Purposes of processing

We use the information described above to:

  • provide the App's learning, settings, reminder, and purchase features;
  • measure usage, maintain reliability, diagnose problems, and improve the App;
  • process and restore purchases and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • deliver, measure, secure, and manage advertisements;
  • respond to support and privacy inquiries; and
  • comply with applicable law and protect users, the Developer, and others.

3. Service providers and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by the following service providers only as needed to provide their services:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not intentionally copy raw advertising identifiers into a Developer-operated database.

4. Advertising profile, consent, and your choices

General-audience profile: before the Mobile Ads SDK can request ads, the App uses Google UMP to obtain or refresh consent where required. On iOS, the App also presents an explanation and requests ATT permission before attempting to access the advertising identifier. If ATT is denied, the iOS advertising identifier is unavailable, but ads that are allowed by your UMP choices and device settings may still be shown. Ad content is limited to the T rating.

UMP determines whether a consent form or a privacy-options control is required in your region. When UMP requires the privacy-options control, it is available from the App's Settings screen so you can review or change your advertising choices. On iOS, ATT permission can also be changed in the device's Settings. On Android, you can use the advertising privacy controls provided by Android or your Google account. A changed choice applies to future processing and does not necessarily remove information already retained for security, accounting, or legal purposes.

5. Data retention and deletion

  • Local learning data remains on your device until you clear it in the App or uninstall the App.
  • Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat data is retained according to our service configuration, the providers' policies, and applicable legal obligations, and only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above.
  • Advertising events, identifiers, fraud-prevention information, and UMP consent records are retained by Google or on your device according to Google's settings, policies, and legal obligations. The Developer does not set a separate retention period for Google's raw ad-level data.
  • Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.

Because the App does not create a Developer-hosted user account, there is no App account to delete. You may clear local data from the App's settings or by uninstalling it. To request deletion of support information or ask about data handled by us, contact us using the address below. We may need limited information to verify and complete a request.

6. International data processing

Google, Apple, and RevenueCat may process information in the United States, Japan, and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Processing is subject to the providers' contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards and applicable law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including encrypted network connections provided by the operating system and our service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. Children's and teens' privacy

This App is a general-audience vocabulary-learning tool and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to provide personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support communication, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our service providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or store listing.
